Stocks with Jake is an independent investing publication for self-directed investors who already understand the basics and want help finding interesting investment ideas and understanding them better.
Finding a great stock is rarely about discovering a secret nobody else knows. More often, it means asking better questions, challenging your assumptions, understanding what expectations are already built into the price, and knowing what evidence could prove your thesis wrong.
That’s what Stocks with Jake is built around.

I’m Jake Lerch, an investor and financial writer with more than 25 years of experience in the market. I started investing during the dot-com era, later worked in the financial industry during the 2008 crisis, and have spent much of my career thinking and writing about companies, markets, and investing.
Outside of investing, I’m into chess, movies, history, technology, and whatever rabbit hole happens to capture my attention that week. I also share my home office with two cats and a dog. Their investment recommendations remain under review.
